Road to Recovery

NOV 2018 - Since I got injured in Week 2, I've had an almost singular focus: rehab, recover, return. To be honest, the injury was humbling, but it never dimmed my spirit or diminished my faith. I worked hard to get here and I'm working even harder to return...STRONGER! I'm so glad to have Sierra and the kids up here with me. Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats family. -JH

Successful Surgery

SEPT 2018 - Just 24hrs after suffering a lower leg fracture in Dallas, Jon underwent successful surgery at the NYHSS. His mind was relieved when surgeons told him how well the procedure turned out, but his spirits were lifted when he saw his wife and children and spoke to his NYG teammates, ownership, and front office personnel by phone. (We can neither confirm nor deny that his agent snuck in a couple post-surgery bacon cheeseburgers for the big fella.) -DE

Down in Dallas

SEPT 2018 - During the second game of the season--a primetime SNF game, in Dallas--Jon got rolled up at the line of scrimmage, resulting in a fracture in his lower right leg. The big Tongan sat on the turf but would later say he knew the injury was severe. "I felt it pop," said Halapio. "I knew it wasn't good, I just didn't know how bad. At that point, all you can do is say a prayer, trust in the medical staff and then say another prayer." -DE

Season Opener 2018

SEPT 2018 - The weekend after Labor Day, we opened our season against the Jaguars and I started the first 'season-opener' of my NFL career. Even though we came away with a hard-fought loss at MetLife, it was a special day, starting at OC, with my family and management team there to support me. Prayers matter, hard work pays, God is Good! -JH

A True Honor

AUG. 2018 - This year, during the second pre-season game, in Detroit, I was honored to be selected as team captain. It can be easy for fans--and sometimes even players--to dismiss an early pre-season game, but that's something I've never done and to be chosen as captain, was truly something special. Sure, you can say 'it's only a pre-season game bro' and you'd be correct, but it meant a lot to me and to my family. -JH

Media: Forbes Mag.

JUL 2018 - I was honored to have Patricia Traina write an article about my Tongan heritage for Forbes Magazine. I think she really captured the spirit, the hunger, and the humility at the heart of our culture. These were lessons that my Dad instilled in me from an early age and something that I will pass on to my children as well. I appreciate Patricia taking the time to talk about my lineage! -JH
